SDDOT Seeks Public Comment on Draft Section 4(f) De Minimis Evaluation for Proposed Project on S.D. Highway 15 in Deuel County

The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) has proposed a project to reconstruct S.D. Highway 15 from Clear Lake to the junction of U.S. Highway 212 to increase the shoulder width, re-establish ditch section, and flatten out deficient vertical curves. Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act of 1966 (49 U.S.C. 303) requires a special effort be made to preserve the natural beauty of the countryside and public and recreation lands, wildlife and waterfowl refuges, and historic sites.
Transportation Commission Awards Funding for Forty Local Bridge Projects

The South Dakota Transportation Commission awarded funding for forty local bridge projects totaling approximately $3.5 million at their regularly scheduled meeting in Pierre on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026.
Traffic Signal Improvement Project Scheduled for Sioux Avenue and Pierre Street Intersection in Pierre
August 27, 2026
From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug.30, 2026, the traffic signals at the intersection of U.S. Highway 14 (Sioux Avenue) and S.D. Highway 1889 (Pierre Street) will be temporarily turned off while a new traffic signal cabinet is installed.

Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act of 1966 (49 U.S.C. 303) requires a special effort be made to preserve the natural beauty of the countryside and public and recreation lands, wildlife and waterfowl refuges, and historic sites.
Multiple Bridge Deck Chip Seal Projects Scheduled to Begin in Rapid City Area

Beginning Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, crews will begin a bridge deck chip seal project at three different locations in the Rapid City area.
