Sept. 18, 2025:
Aug. 15 – Sept. 15, 2025, Completed Work:

Pierre Street (Sioux Avenue to ½ block north): This segment is open to traffic from Sioux Avenue. A cul-de-sac south of the railroad overpass allows traffic to U-turn and return to Sioux Avenue.

Pierre Street (½ block north of Sioux Avenue to Pleasant Drive): The contractor has closed Pierre Street from the railroad overpass to West Pleasant Drive. City water and sanitary sewer lines were bored under the southbound lane below the railroad overpass, while the storm sewer was installed under the northbound lane. Water and sanitary sewer lines are complete from Sioux Avenue to West Pleasant Drive.

West Pleasant Drive to East Pleasant Drive: Two-way traffic is on the south side of the road while city water line installation continues on the north side.

Euclid Avenue (East Pleasant Drive to north of Capitol Avenue): Luminaire placement is nearly complete. All sidewalk work is finished, and the road is open to traffic and pedestrians. The contractor is installing concrete footing anchor bolts at Capitol Avenue to support new traffic signal poles.

Euclid Avenue (Capitol Avenue through Prospect Avenue): Curb and gutter, intersection fillets, storm sewer, and sidewalks are complete.

Euclid Avenue (Prospect Avenue through Broadway Avenue): The Broadway Avenue intersection remains closed. The contractor is placing storm sewer, undercutting, and completing subsurface grading. Utility relocation is complete, and a new water line has been installed to Broadway Avenue.
Anticipated Work Sept. 15 – Oct. 15, 2025:

Pierre Street (1 block north of Sioux Avenue to Pleasant Drive): The contractor will finish storm sewer installation to West Pleasant Drive, followed by undercutting, subsurface grading, gravel placement, and curb and gutter work.

West Pleasant Drive to East Pleasant Drive: Surfacing will be removed, utilities adjusted, storm sewer placed, undercutting completed, and base course placed. Traffic will shift as needed. For approximately three days, access from East Pleasant Drive to Highland Avenue will be closed for storm sewer placement and utility adjustments. Business access will remain open on Euclid Avenue from Capitol Avenue.

Euclid Avenue (East Pleasant Drive to north of Capitol Avenue): The contractor will complete luminaire and traffic signal installation at Capitol Avenue. This segment will remain open to traffic and pedestrians.

Euclid Avenue (North of Capitol Avenue through Prospect Avenue): Asphalt surfacing will be completed, and luminaire installation will continue. Prospect Avenue will be permanently surfaced and reopened.

Euclid Avenue (Prospect Avenue through Broadway Avenue): Gravel surfacing, curb and gutter, and sidewalk placement will be completed. Asphalt paving may also begin. Broadway Avenue will remain closed.
Sept. 2, 2025:
During the week of Sept. 8, 2025, storm sewer installation will begin on the west side of Hilgers Gulch for the Wynoka Street storm sewer drainage in Pierre. Sidewalks on the west side of Hilgers Gulch will be closed to accommodate construction. Sidewalks will be reopened as construction progresses. Work in Hilgers Gulch will continue through the remainder of the 2025 construction season.

On Thursday, March 20, 2025, the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), along with the City of Pierre, and Morris Inc., held a public informational meeting to discuss the upcoming Euclid reconstruction project in Pierre. The meeting, included construction timelines and traffic changes. Morris, Inc., the contractor for the Euclid Avenue reconstruction project, provided a short presentation at each meeting.
