S.D. Highway 11 North of Brandon
Project Summary:
The project will reconstruct approximately one and one-half miles of roadway, including replacing two bridges over West Pipestone Creek and Split Rock Creek.
The roadway will be raised approximately 10 to 12 feet through the low-lying valley to reduce flooding impacts and improve long-term reliability. Once complete, the new asphalt surface will provide a smoother ride for motorists and help reduce future maintenance needs.

July 24, 2026:
Anticipated Work in Aug. 2026: Grading will begin at the intersection of 258th Street and S.D. Highway 11. The contractor will have until Oct. 16, 2026, to complete the work and reopen the intersection. The bridge contractor will begin construction of the bridge over West Pipestone Creek.
Completed Work in July 2026: The contractor completed grading and gravel surfacing from the north project limits to one-quarter mile south of 257th Street. The contractor is currently working on constructing the bridge berms.

July 16, 2026:
On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, the intersection of S.D. Highway 11 and 258th Street (County Highway 130) will close to complete grading and asphalt pavement. This intersection is anticipated to be closed until Friday, Oct. 16, 2026.
Traffic Detour Options:
Two detours for Highway 11 traffic will be provided:
484th Avenue (County Highway 109), 258th Street (County Highway 130), 486th Avenue (County Highway 105), Interstate 90 (exit 410) Valley Springs: and
254th Street (County Highway 122), 478th Avenue (County Highway 121), I-90 (exit 402) Veterans Parkway.
