S.D. Highway 50 and S.D. Highway 37 - Tyndall
Project Summary:
The project includes approximately three miles of reconstruction on S.D. Highway 50 through Tyndall. Work will begin on the east side of Tyndall at the start of the four-lane divided highway and extend west to just beyond the intersection of S.D. Highway 50 and S.D. Highway 37 South, where the divided highway ends.
The project includes full roadway grading to transition the four-lane divided highway into a five-lane undivided roadway with a center turn lane. Additional work includes new asphalt surfacing, culvert replacement, intersection realignment, roadway lighting and permanent signing to improve safety and traffic flow.

Project Updates:
July 24, 2026:
Anticipated Work in Aug. 2026: The contractor will finish installing the concrete curb and gutter and place the remaining asphalt surfacing on the north side of the roadway through Tyndall. The contractor will continue removing existing asphalt and concrete surfacing on the south side, followed by grading operations.
Completed Work in July 2026: The contractor completed asphalt paving from the edge of Tyndall to the west end of the project, and traffic has been shifted onto the new lanes. The first half of the precast concrete box culvert has been placed on the north side of the roadway, and all pipe and drop inlet work through town has been completed on the north side of the roadway. All gravel surfacing has been placed, and concrete curb and gutter work has begun. The contractor has begun removing existing asphalt and concrete surfacing from the south side of the roadway. Grading work on the south side of the roadway has begun.
