S.D. Highway 10 - Bridge Replacement at Sand Lake
Project Summary:
This project consists of the replacement of bridge structure to improve water capacity over the James River (Sand Lake) on S.D Highway 10 west of Houghton.
Highway 10 will be closed to through traffic during the bridge replacement project.
Motorists should plan to use an alternative route. A signed detour route will be provided using U.S. Highway 281 and S.D. Highway 37.

Sept. 19, 2025:
Aug. 15–Sept. 15, 2025 — Completed work: The contractor placed reinforcing steel, poured and cured the concrete deck, and began work on drainage and approach grades.
Sept. 15–Oct. 15, 2025 — Anticipated work: The contractor plans to complete both approach slabs and the bridge barrier.
