Project Updates: 

June 23, 2025: 

May 15, 2025 – June 15, 2025, Completed Work: The concrete surfacing on the southbound lanes has been completed. All bump grinding on the new concrete pavement has been completed and joint sealing has begun. 

Anticipated work June 15, 2025 – July 15, 2025: Joint sealing will be completed throughout the southbound lanes, and the asphalt shoulders will be paved adjacent to the new concrete surfacing. Traffic control will be installed on the newly constructed lanes, and guardrail will be installed on the bridge. Milling and paving of the asphalt shoulders from West 39th Street to 306th Street and 300th Street to S.D. Highway 46 is planned to begin. Traffic is anticipated to be switched onto the southbound lanes the week of Monday, July 7, 2025.

May 14, 2025: 

Beginning in the afternoon hours of Wednesday, May 14, 2025, 306th Street heading west from U.S. Highway 81, north of Yankton, will be closed while concrete paving operations take place through the intersection. 
 
The intersection is anticipated to be closed for approximately seven days, weather dependent. 
 
This work is part of a larger project that consists of reconstructing Highway 81 north of Yankton. The overall completion date for the surfacing project is November 2025.
