Project Updates:
Oct 30, 2025:
By the end of the day on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, all four lanes of U.S. Highway 81 (north of Yankton) are scheduled to be opened to traffic. The contractor is currently completing the pavement markings.
Motorists should stay alert for equipment and workers in the area to complete project clean-up and to install signage. Lane closures within the project area will be needed intermittently to complete remaining work.

Oct 27, 2025:
Sept. 15, 2025 – Oct. 15, 2025, Completed Work:
Joint sealing of the newly paved northbound lanes has been completed. All remaining gravel shoulders, intersecting roads, and median crossovers have been paved with asphalt.
Anticipated Work Oct. 15, 2025 – Nov. 15, 2025:
The northbound lanes will be opened to traffic. The shoulders will receive a flush seal and rumble strips, and permanent pavement markings will be applied in both lanes. Final project cleanup will also be completed.
