Nov. 21, 2025: 

Oct. 15, 2025 – Nov. 15, 2025, Completed Work:
The contractor continued final sidewalk construction along the south side of U.S. Highway 212. Grading and placement of base course material at the southern U.S. Highway 212/S.D. Highway 79 intersection were completed. Asphalt surfacing between Newell and Nisland is finished, along with paving at the southern intersection.

Anticipated Work (Nov. 15, 2025 – Dec. 15, 2025:
Final grading and cleanup throughout Newell will continue as sidewalk work is completed. Miscellaneous cleanup activities will also continue throughout the project limits between Newell and Nisland. All work is anticipated to be completed before winter.

Aug. 6, 2025: 

On Monday, Aug. 11, 2025, work will begin on an intersection improvement project that will reconstruct the southern intersection of U.S. Highway 212 and S.D. Highway 79. Motorists will encounter a milled roadway surface and two-way traffic shifted to the southbound lanes on Highway 79 while the new lanes are being constructed.

A temporary all-way stop will be in place at the intersection of Highway 212 and Highway 79. Drivers should use caution and be prepared for construction equipment and workers near the roadway. 

This work is part of a larger construction project to install new asphalt surfacing from Nisland to Newell, reconstruct the southern intersection of Highway 212 and Highway 79, and update the sidewalk through Newell. The overall project completion date is Friday, Nov. 14, 2025.
