Project Updates:

Sept. 18, 2025: 

Aug. 15 – Sept. 15, 2025, Completed Work:
The contractor completed asphalt paving, flush seal, and permanent pavement markings from Highway 49 to the north end of the project. Work also continued on pipe repairs, in-slope shaping, and topsoil placement on the in-slopes. The contractor reset the guardrail at the White River Bridge. Asphalt concrete blade laydown was completed from the Highway 49 intersection to the south end of the project.

Anticipated Work Sept. 15 – Oct. 15, 2025:
The contractor will continue asphalt concrete paving from the Highway 49 intersection to the south end of the project and expects to complete the flush seal. Topsoil placement will continue throughout the project. Permanent seeding, mulching, and fertilizing will begin, and pipe repairs will be finished.

Aug. 7, 2025: 

As of Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025,  S.D. Highway 47 from the junction with S.D. Highway  44 north to the Highway 49 junction will reopen to traffic. This section of Highway 47 was closed over the past month for the installation of a new precast box culvert. 

Work will continue on the project from the Highway 47/Highway 49 junction north toward Interstate 90. 

The prime contractor on this $21.2 million reconstruction project is Spencer Quarries Inc. from Spencer, SD. The overall project completion date is Friday, Nov. 14, 2025.
