S.D. Highway 15 - From Clear Lake South to S.D. Highway 28
Project Summary:
This project consists of grading and widening to improve road smoothness and sight distance to increase safety.
There will be an interim surface of gravel and asphalt throughout the winter of 2024-2025 with a paving project to follow in 2025.
Project Updates:
Anticipated work Spring 2025: The contractor will return to complete temporary surface treatment as well as minor cleanup items in the spring of 2025. A separate paving project will follow in 2025.

Oct. 15, 2024 – Nov. 15, 2024, Completed Work: Both grading and gravel placement has completed on the project. Permanent fence work continues and should wrap up by Nov. 15, 2024. Chloride will be placed on remaining gravel by Nov. 15, 2024. Seeding and erosion control will likely bleed into the week of Nov. 18, 2024, and will complete as soon as possible. Borrow pit restoration should complete on Nov. 15, 2024.
Anticipated work in Nov. 15, 2024 – Dec. 15, 2024: Seeding work will conclude the week of Nov. 18, 2024. The contractor has cleanup and punch list work to complete in the ditches and restoration work in the stockpile sites off the roadway. The temporary surface treatment work will be placed in the Spring of 2025 ahead of the asphalt paving work.
