S.D. Highway 10 - Bridge Replacement at Sand Lake
Project Summary:
This project consists of the replacement of bridge structure to improve water capacity over the James River (Sand Lake) on S.D Highway 10 west of Houghton.
Highway 10 will be closed to through traffic during the bridge replacement project.
Motorists should plan to use an alternative route. A signed detour route will be provided using U.S. Highway 281 and S.D. Highway 37.

Oct. 31, 2025:
Sept. 15, 2025 – Oct. 15, 2025, Completed Work: The contractor has completed both approach slabs and the bridge barrier. Preparation for the west end asphalt paving section has begun.
Anticipated Work Oct. 15, 2025 – Nov. 15, 2025: The contractor plans to complete the west end asphalt paving section, followed by the east end and the guardrail installation.
