Rapid City - Anamosa Street Bridge I-190

Project Summary:

The project consists of:
- Replacing aged structure with weight restrictions
- Replacing and improving intersections at both ends of the bridge
- Reducing light pollution in communities adjacent to Interstate 190

The purpose of this project is to replace the Anamosa Street Bridge over Interstate 190 due to aging and weight restrictions. There will be luminaires replaced along the I-190 corridor that will provide reduced light pollution for the surrounding neighborhoods. A small section of concrete paving will occur on the north end of the I-190 structure and North Street including a barrier wall and glare screen.

May 20, 2025:

May Completed Work: The contractor completed demolition of the existing Anamosa Street Bridge and adjusted traffic to two-way in the southbound lane of I-190. Continued asphalt removal for PCC paving north of I-190 and North Street in the northbound lane along with installation of storm sewer in the median. Continued construction of drilled piers for the new Anamosa Street Bridge in the median and east side of the I-190.

Anticipated work in June: Completion of the drilled piers in the median and east side of I-190. Completion of asphalt removal for PCC paving north of I-190 and North Street in the northbound lane. Begin paving operations north of I-190 and North Street in the northbound lane. Begin asphalt, sidewalk, and curb and gutter removals on West Boulevard after school is out of session. Continue construction of the bents to include the spread footings and columns.
