Project Updates:
March 26, 2025:
The Anamosa Street Bridge replacement project over Interstate 190 in Rapid City has begun for the 2025 construction season. Construction work will be completed in different phases for I-190 and for Anamosa Street. On I-190, upgrades will be made to the lighting in the corridor to reduce light pollution.
The original bridge structure will be replaced on Anamosa Street. The intersections at both ends of the bridge will be replaced to meet ADA standards. The temporary pedestrian bridge will be removed over I-190 when the bridge structure is completed.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane on I-190 in the passing lanes with a speed reduction. Traffic will be placed in a two-way traffic configuration in the northbound lanes of I-190 starting on Monday, April 14, 2025, to facilitate safety of the traveling public and construction workers. Delays of five to ten minutes can be expected while traveling through the work area during high traffic hours.

Dec. 2, 2024:
On Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, crews will conduct paving operations at the intersection of Anamosa Street and West Boulevard North in Rapid City. The intersection is expected to remain open for the majority of the project and flaggers will be present to help guide traffic through the work zone. Motorists are advised that the intersection will be temporarily closed for a maximum of two hours for crews to safely complete the work.
The project will not begin until Horace Mann Elementary School (located at the intersection of Anamosa Street and West Boulevard North) is in session and is intended to be completed before the end of the school day.
This closure is part of an ongoing bridge replacement project that consists of mainline work on I-190 and replacement of the Anamosa Street Bridge.
