May 2024 - The interim project completion date for 5th Street to Market Street is Nov. 2024, with an overall project completion date of Oct. 2025.

Sept. 15, 2025 – Oct. 15, 2025, Completed Work:
Dakota Avenue South from 7th to 9th streets is complete and has been open to traffic since early August. Curb, gutter, and tie-in mainline paving and transitions were prepared and placed north of Market Street toward the intersection of Dakota Avenue and U.S. Highway 14. Portland cement concrete (PCC) pavement in the northbound lane of Dakota Avenue has reached strength for active traffic loads and is now fully open. Width restrictions and detours have been removed, and Dakota Avenue, aside from incidental tie-in items, is complete.
Anticipated Work Oct. 15, 2025 – Nov. 15, 2025:
Incidental tie-in paving and minor work will continue without major impacts to the current traffic configuration along Dakota Avenue north of Market Street.

Oct. 10, 2025:
On Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, permanent striping work is scheduled to begin on S.D. Highway 37 (Dakota Avenue) in Huron. Work will take place between Market Street and U.S. Highway 14.
Motorists should be aware of changing traffic patterns in the work zone and follow temporary signage and flaggers as applicable.
Weather dependent, the anticipated completion date for the striping work is Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025.
