HURON, S.D. – On Friday, May 9, 2025, the contractor will be working on utility work completion and placing storm sewer across Dakota Avenue at 2nd Street North. While the work is underway, Dakota Avenue will be closed from 3rd Street North to south of 2nd Street North. Dakota Avenue will remain open from Market Street to just south of 2nd Street North. This work is anticipated to last approximately two weeks. Traffic on Dakota Avenue will be fully restored once the utility and storm sewer operations are complete.

A signed detour will be in place during these operations directing motorists to use 3rd Street South, Lincoln Avenue, and U.S. Highway 14.

The prime contractor for this $19 million project is BX Civil and Construction, Inc. of Dell Rapids, SD. The overall project completion date is October 2025.
