Structure Work Scheduled on Southbound Interstate 29 Over 12th Street and Ellis and Eastern Railroad in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – On Monday, July 14, 2025, work is scheduled to begin on the Interstate 29 southbound structures over 12th Street and the Ellis and Eastern Railroad tracks in Sioux Falls. 

Motorists should be aware that the easternmost two lanes of southbound I-29 will be closed, and traffic will be maintained in the westernmost two lanes. This traffic configuration is anticipated to be in place until Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, then traffic will be switched to the newly constructed east lanes. Work will then begin in the west two lanes at this location.

The prime contractor for this $7.4 million project is General Excavating, LLC of Lincoln, NE. The overall project completion date is Friday, Oct. 17, 2025.
