SDDOT to Host Public Meeting Open House for Proposed Reconstruction Project and Traffic Study in Miller

MILLER, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will host a public meeting open house on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 5:30 – 7:30  p.m. (CT) to discuss two transportation-related projects in the Miller area. The public meeting open house will be held at the Miller Community Center, located at 526 N. Broadway Ave. The public meeting is designed to receive public input on the proposed S.D. Highway 45 reconstruction project and the U.S. Highway 14 traffic study. A short presentation will be given at 5:30 p.m. The presentation will be followed by time for informal one-on-one discussions with design staff.

S.D. Highway 45 Proposed Reconstruction Project:
The Highway 45 proposed reconstruction project will address improvements along a 12-mile stretch of Highway 45, from the Highway 14/Highway 45 junction in Miller south to 208th Street. The project will include roadway reconstruction, drainage enhancements, and safety improvements. Representatives from SDDOT will be available to answer questions regarding project scope, timeline, right-of-way acquisitions, and relocation assistance. U.S. Highway 14 Traffic Study:
The Highway 14 traffic study evaluates existing and future traffic conditions along a two-mile section from the Highway 14/45 junction to East 8th Avenue in Miller. The study focuses on analyzing traffic flow, safety concerns, and potential operational improvements for the corridor. SDDOT staff will share study findings and proposed enhancements, including potential intersection modifications and pedestrian safety improvements. Area residents, business owners, and commuters are encouraged to attend the public meeting open house to learn more and to provide feedback. Written comments for the proposed reconstruction project and the traffic study may be provided at the meeting or online. Written comment will be accepted for the proposed reconstruction project and the traffic study until Friday, April 25, 2025.
