U.S. Highway 212 in Spink County near Frankfort
Project Summary:
U.S. Highway 212 from five miles east of Redfield to Doland
Project Updates:
May 22, 2026:
Anticipated work in June 2026: The bridge structure work and overlay will be completed, and traffic will be restored in this area in anticipation of milling and paving. U.S. Highway 212 will be paved within the limits of the prior grading project, and once the pavement envelope through Frankfort is finished, milling and surfacing will begin east toward Doland. If there are no significant weather delays, all full‑depth pavement, milling and asphalt overlay work is anticipated to be completed in June.
Completed work in May 2026: The westbound lane of U.S. Highway 212 has been restored to active traffic as the bridge approach slabs and the drainage components west of the bridge have been installed. The closure has now shifted to the eastbound lane, where additional drainage structures and pipe have been installed ahead of the sleeper and approach slabs. Surface shaping and paving preparations have begun west of the James River bridge, with priming and base course paving expected to continue through June.

April 29, 2026:
Anticipated work in May 2026: Structural steel and formwork operations are scheduled to continue on the west bridge approach slab, with work on the east bridge approach slab to follow. Once the approach slabs are placed and cured, crews will install pavement east and west of the bridge and install new guardrail. The work zone will continue to occupy the eastbound lane while crews complete excavation, drainage structure installation, and structural concrete work tying into the recently completed bridge approach slabs in the westbound lane.
Completed work in April 2026: The work zone detour and temporary signals were installed, and work began on Sunday, April 13, 2026. Excavation, drainage structure installation, and structural concrete sleeper slab placement have been completed. Reinforcing steel installation has begun on the west bridge approach slab.
