June 20, 2025:
May 15, 2025 – June 15, 2025, Completed Work: The new eastbound lanes on Sioux Avenue were completed and traffic was switched to a two-way traffic configuration on the new eastbound lanes. Phase “1B” got well underway with the removal of existing westbound lanes and installation of the new storm sewer.
Due to extensive impact of storm and water lines, pedestrians have been routed from Sioux Avenue to Pleasant Drive at Central and Highland Avenues.
Access during phase “1B” to Lower Pierre Street businesses will continue via the downtown businesses detour utilizing Central, Highland, and Dakota Avenues.
On Pierre Street (from Sioux Avenue to one block north): The contractor made progress with water line installation, setting drop inlets and manholes, storm sewer installation, and has begun grading work.
On Euclid Avenue (from east Pleasant Drive through Capital Avenue): The contractor completed storm sewer and drop inlet installation, completed clay compaction, and began gravel surfacing placement.
Utility adjustment continued north reaching Prospect Avenue on the southbound lanes.
Anticipated work June 15, 2025 – July 15, 2025:
In Sioux Avenue: Storm sewer, subgrade undercut, soil re-compaction and basecourse placement of the westbound lanes will be completed. The contractor will then place new concrete in the westbound lanes. Traffic will then be moved to the outside eastbound and westbound lane and then follow up with concrete paving of the center turn lane. Finally, lanes lines and pedestrian crosswalks will be striped, and normal traffic flow will return back to the original five lane configuration. Lower Pierre Street will again be accessed from Sioux Avenue and the southbound one-way configuration will again be implemented for that portion of City street.
On Pierre Street (From Sioux Avenue to one block north): New storm sewer and water line installation will be completed. Subbase and basecourse placement will be complete. New curb and gutter, sidewalk, and ADA ramp placement will be underway.
On Euclid Avenue (from east Pleasant Drive to north of Capital Avenue): basecourse will be placed and compacted. Curb and Gutter, sidewalk, ADA ramps, and concrete paving will commence immediately north of the Euclid Avenue/East Pleasant Avenue Intersection.
In order to access the U.S. Post Office and Walgreens, pedestrians will continue to be routed from Sioux Avenue to Pleasant Drive at Central and Highland Avenues respectively. From Pleasant Drive pedestrians can access Lower Pierre Street to the U.S. Post Office and Walgreens.
