Project Summary:

S.D. Highway 25 from nine miles north of U.S. Highway 212 to four miles north of S.D. Highway 20 (Clark/Day county Line)

Detour Maps:

A signed car detour will be in place guiding motorists around the work zone utilizing 437th Avenue and 155th Street (County Road 20). Truck traffic is asked to find alternate state routes to detour around the project.

Project Updates:

Nov. 26, 2025:

As of Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, S.D. Highway 25 has been reopened to traffic from nine miles north of U.S. Highway 212 to four miles north of S.D. Highway 20. This section of Highway 25 near Bradley and Wallace has been under construction since April 2025.

Work is ongoing and motorists should be aware of equipment and workers adjacent to the work zone.  There is a 55-mph speed limit in place through the work area and an 80,000-pound weight restriction. This section of Highway 25 consists of interim surfacing, with three-and-one-half miles of gravel surfacing on the northern portion of the work zone.

Nov. 24, 2025: 

Oct. 15, 2025 – Nov. 15, 2025 Completed Work: Interim surfacing, seeding, mulching, and finish work on S.D. Highway 25 continued from south to north. The highway remains closed to through traffic as areas are finalized for opening later in the month on both the interim surfacing sections and areas that will remain gravel.

Anticipated Work Nov. 15, 2025 – Dec. 15, 2025: S.D. Highway 25 is anticipated to open on Nov. 26, 2025. Interim chip-seal surfacing will be applied to approximately four and one-half miles of the southernmost portion of the highway. About three and one-half miles will remain gravel through the winter, and the remaining two miles are planned for work in spring 2026.
