S.D. Highway 25 from U.S. Highway 212 North 9 Miles

Project Summary:

The project will replace and upgrade drainage structures to help improve water flow in the area. Crews will also regrade the roadway, reducing hills and filling low spots to provide better visibility for travelers. In addition, the project will widen the shoulders along this segment to enhance safety.

Aug. 28, 2026:

Anticipated Work in Sept. 2026: Fine roadway grading, embankments and end slopes will continue to be refined. Erosion controls, topsoil, seeding and mulching will continue north from 168th Street. Once the roadway north of 168th Street is sufficiently fine graded to the alignment, the interim surface will continue to be applied toward 164th Street, where it meets contract 09VF, which will be paved with its first lift of asphalt concrete pavement.

Completed Work in Aug 2026: Roadway grading operations have been substantially completed throughout the extent of the project. Spot areas of the roadway are being fine graded, along with the fine and finish grading of the embankments and end slopes. An interim surface has been applied to the first four miles north of U.S. Highway 212. The roadway remains closed to through traffic.

July 27, 2026:

Anticipated Work in Aug. 2026:  Grading operations will continue from 168th Street north through 166th Street until road shaping and embankment work can be stabilized with erosion controls and fine grading can be established. Upon stabilization, work will commence north of 166th Street and include asphalt milling and reclamation, continuing to approximately 165th Street.

Completed Work in July 2026:  Fine grading, embankment seeding and environmental controls have been completed through the first 4 miles of S.D. Highway 25 north of U.S. Highway 212. New grading operations have commenced from 169th Street to 167th Street, 2 miles east of Garden City.
