Canton - U.S. Highway 18 to Interstate 29

Project Summary:

Located east of Interstate 29 at exit 62, U.S. Highway 18 connects the city of Canton to Interstate 29 with a two-lane undivided rural highway. This stretch of Highway 18 has shown increased traffic volumes in which the current two-lane highway is reaching capacity. This eight-mile segment will be reconstructed with a four-lane divided highway to accommodate the increased traffic volumes. Additionally, this project includes the replacement of existing box culverts which are sized appropriately based on watershed information.

The project includes grading, curb and gutter, storm sewer, box culvert replacement, lighting, permanent signing, pavement marking, and surfacing.

Aug. 15 – Sept. 15, 2025, Completed Work:
Colored concrete along the median was completed. Pavement markings and permanent sign installation continued.

Anticipated Work Sept. 15 – Oct. 15, 2025:
Crews will continue installing permanent markings and signs. Final punch-list items will be addressed, and project cleanup will continue.
