S.D. Highway 15 - From Clear Lake South to S.D. Highway 28
Project Summary:
This project consists of grading and widening to improve road smoothness and sight distance to increase safety.
There will be an interim surface of gravel and asphalt throughout the winter of 2024-2025 with a paving project to follow in 2025.

April 10, 2024:
Completed Work: Tree removal work has been completed. Preliminary work on borrow pits and stockpile sites has been completed on the south half of the project. Preliminary erosion control work has begun from 190th Street to Highway 28.
Anticipated work in April 15, 2024 – May 15, 2024: Highway 15 roadway closure is expected April 15. Asphalt milling to generate RAP will begin April 15 project-wide. The contractor will begin work from 190th Street to 192nd Street from April 22 to May 27. Salvage removal on this section will begin April 22. Grading and pipe placement work on this section to begin on April 24.

April 4, 2024 - Press Release: On Monday, April 15, 2024, grading work is scheduled to begin on S.D. Highway 15 from Clear Lake to S.D. Highway 28. As grading begins, the highway will be closed to through traffic. The project includes grading, structure work, and interim surfacing.
The project will reconstruct 12 miles on Highway 15. The anticipated project schedule is to grade in sections. Weather dependent, the south half of the project will be graded from mid-April to late July. The north half of the project will be graded from July to mid-November.
Pre-Construction Informational Meeting:
A pre-construction informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Clear Lake Community Room, located at 125 3rd Ave. S. in Clear Lake. This meeting is open to all area residents and commuters to attend. The informational meeting is designed to provide general construction project details and the proposed schedule.

Press Release - During the week of March 18, 2024, work is scheduled to begin on S.D. Highway 15 from Clear Lake south to S.D. Highway 28. The initial work will focus primarily on tree removal along the fence line. Weather dependent, Highway 15 is anticipated to be closed to traffic in April to begin grading work. A detour will be provided along Interstate 29. Access for local businesses and residents will be maintained from the nearest mile line road during active construction.

Tree removal work is anticipated to begin the week of March 18, 2024. Closure of the roadway and grading work on the project is yet to be determined, but is currently anticipated in April, 2024.
