About the Office of Railroads

The office of Railroads handles the management of all real and personal property acquired by the state for railroad purposes. This includes leasing of property, utility installation, track rehabilitation, industrial track expansion and construction.  Another main function of the Railroad Office is loan and grant management.  The grants are typically federally funded by the Federal Railroad Administration and are focused on infrastructure rehabilitation and economic development of shortline railroads.
