WASTA, S.D. – Beginning Monday, March 3, 2025, an eastbound lane closure will be put in place on Interstate 90 at the bridge over Bull Creek near Wasta. The closure is needed for crews to install temporary surfacing and guardrail in preparation for two-way traffic on I-90. Two-way traffic through this area is expected to begin on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. During the first phase of construction, two-way traffic will be carried in the eastbound lanes of I-90. Motorists should be aware of workers and equipment adjacent to the work zone.

The eastbound lane closure and two-way traffic are part of a project to reconstruct the eastbound and westbound I-90 bridges and approach slabs over Bull Creek. The westbound bridge is scheduled to be constructed in 2025 followed by the eastbound bridge in 2026.

The prime contractor on the $15 million project is Heavy Constructors, Inc. from Rapid City, SD. The interim completion date for the first phase of work on the westbound bridge is scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, 2025. The overall project completion date is Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026.
