Ward Rest Area on I-29 South of Brookings Temporarily Closing for Annual Cleaning

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Ward Rest Area on Interstate 29, located 12 miles south of Brookings, will be temporarily closing on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 7 a.m. for annual spring cleaning. The rest area is scheduled to reopen to the public at approximately 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Travelers are encouraged to find alternate rest areas to use during the time of the closure. For additional information on rest areas in South Dakota and to view an interactive map of rest area locations, please visit https://dot.sd.gov/travelers-/-travelers-/-rest-area/ports-of-entry.
