On Monday, May 5, 2025, U.S. Highway 212 will be closed at a location six miles east of Redfield. The project is approximately five miles in length toward the east. The closure is needed for crews to complete grading and interim surfacing.

A signed detour route will be in place during the closure guiding passenger vehicles around the work zone via S.D. Highway 37, 392nd Avenue, and 179th Street. Truck traffic is required to use other State routes to bypass the work zone.

Grading operations are scheduled to be complete and the road reopened to traffic by Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025.

The prime contractor for this $5.8 million project is Midland Contracting, Inc. of Volga, SD. The overall project completion date is June 2026.
