SDDOT Seeks Public Input for Proposed Project on S.D. Highway 50 near Avon
AVON, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will hold a public meeting open house on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2026, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (CT) to inform area residents of the proposed project on S.D. Highway 50 from approximately one-quarter mile to the west and one-half mile to the east of Avon. The public meeting open house will be held at the Avon Fire Hall, located at 106 1st Ave. E., in Avon.
A presentation will take place shortly after 5:30 p.m. CT. After the presentation, SDDOT staff will be available to discuss the proposed project and answer questions.
Individuals needing assistance, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should contact the SDDOT ADA Coordinator (605-773-3540) two business days prior to the meeting in order to ensure accommodations are available. For any in-person meeting, notice is further given to individuals with disabilities that the meeting is being held in a physically accessible location.

The opportunity to present written comments will be made available at the meeting and through the proposed project website. Written comments are accepted until Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2026.
