VIVIAN, S.D. – On Monday, May 5, 2025, repair work is scheduled to begin on eastbound Interstate 90 near exit 212, located west of Vivian. Project work will consist of removal of the existing asphalt and granular base followed by replacement of a new granular base and concrete pavement.

Eastbound traffic on I-90 will be detoured around the repair project by utilizing the eastbound off-ramp and on-ramp at exit 212. Stop signs will be erected for southbound U.S. Highway 83 and northbound S.D. Highway 53 traffic at this location to allow Interstate traffic to continue unimpeded. This repair project is expected to be complete in June 2025.

The prime contractor for this $2.7 million construction project is Bituminous Paving, Inc. of Ortonville, MN. The overall project completion date is Nov. 7, 2025.
