Railroad Crossing at U.S. Highway 14/U.S. Highway 281 Junction Near Wolsey Scheduled to Close Temporarily

WOLSEY, S.D. – On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Company will be conducting railroad crossing replacement work near the U.S. Highway 14 and U.S. Highway 281 junction located four miles north of Wolsey. The railroad crossing is located immediately west of the Highway 14/Highway 281 junction on Highway 14.

Highway 14 is scheduled to be temporarily closed from 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, through 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025. A detour route will be in place on 383rd Avenue and 205th Street. Motorists should be aware that the detour route includes three miles of gravel surface and are encouraged to find alternate routes during the temporary closure. 

Flaggers will be in use at the crossing on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, as crews prepare the area for crossing replacement.
