Polymer Deck Seal Work to Resume on Bridges in Stanley County

PIERRE, S.D. – Beginning Monday, April 7, 2025, the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will resume work on polymer deck seals on bridges in Stanley County. 

Work on the project will begin at the Bad River Bridge in Fort Pierre and will include the replacement of concrete approach slabs, new sidewalk railing on the bridge, grinding and patching of the bridge deck, and the placement of an epoxy deck seal. During the project, two-way traffic will be carried through the work zone with a 10-foot width restriction on the bridge. 

The contractor will then move to the next structure on U.S. Highway 14/S.D. Highway 63 southwest of Hayes. Work on this structure includes grinding and patching of the bridge deck, and the placement of an epoxy deck seal. During operating hours, traffic will be carried through the work zone with the use of stop and go signing at the bridge. The bridge will have a 14-foot width restriction during construction. 

The work on the Bad River Bridge will take approximately two months to complete while the work on the Highway 14/Highway 63 structure will take approximately two weeks to complete. Motorists can expect minor delays during these times.

The contractor on this $2.12 million dollar project is Corr Construction Services, Inc. of Hermosa, SD. The anticipated overall project completion date is Friday, Sept. 5, 2025.
