Pavement Restoration Project to Begin in Lead, Deadwood, and Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. - On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will begin a pavement restoration project at four separate locations located near Lead, Deadwood, and Rapid City. The contractor will move from one project to the next in the following order:

  • Work in Lead will take place on U.S. Highway 85 near Park Avenue and run to Enos Street;
  • Work in Deadwood is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 14A and Highway 85 to just north of the intersection of Mt. Roosevelt Road where the divided highway ends;
  • Work in Rapid City will take place on S.D. Highway 44 from East Boulevard to Longview Drive; and
  • Interstate 90 from exit 55 (Deadwood Avenue) to exit 60 (East North Street).


Motorists should be aware that single lane closures will occur intermittently throughout each project as the pavement restoration work proceeds. 

The prime contractor on the $1 million project is Complete Concrete, Inc. of Rapid City, SD. The overall project completion date is Friday, Oct. 10, 2025.
