High Friction Surface Treatment Project Scheduled to Begin in the Custer Area

CUSTER, S.D. – On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, a High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) project is scheduled to begin on U.S. Highway 16 in the Custer area near the Keystone Wye Bridge. Daytime flaggers will be used to guide travelers through the work zone. Motorists should expect delays. Weather dependent, the HFST project on Highway 16 is expected be completed within a week.
The prime contractor for this $113,000 project is J.V. Bailey Company, Inc. of Rapid City, SD. The overall project completion date is July 2025.
