KADOKA, S.D. – On Monday, March 17, 2025, construction work began on S.D. Highway 73 from Kadoka to the south for eight miles. The project includes grading, structure replacement, interim surfacing, and lighting.
Construction work will begin with the removal of asphalt surfacing on the south end of the project. Motorists should expect delays and adjust speeds when driving on dirt surfaces within the work zone. During adverse weather, the driving surface may quickly become impassable. During those times, Highway 73 may be temporarily closed until the surface is dry enough to carry traffic.
The prime contractor on this $25.5 million project is Loiseau Construction Inc. from Flandreau, SD. The overall completion date for the project is June 2026.
