GETTYSBURG, S.D. - - On Monday July 7,  2025, a centerline rumble strip project is scheduled to begin on segments of U.S. Highway 83 and U.S. Highway 212 between the towns of Onida and Gettysburg.

The project limits on U.S. Highway 83 are from one mile north of Onida to the west junction of U.S. Highway 212 and Highway 83.

The project limits on Highway 212 are from one half mile west of the west Highway 83 and Highway 212 junction, to one mile west of Gettysburg.

When work is in progress, motorists can expect 15 minute delays with traffic reduced to one lane around the work zone which will be controlled with flaggers and a pilot car.

Grinding work is anticipated to be complete by the end of July, and will be followed by the placement of pavement markings.

The prime contractor for this $6.6 million project is Diamond Surfacing Inc. of Rogers, MN.
