Bridge Repair Project Scheduled to Begin on U.S. Highway 212 Near La Plant

LA PLANT, S.D. – On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, repair work will begin on the Virgin Creek Bridge located on U.S. Highway 212 west of La Plant. Work on the project will consist of approach and guardrail replacement.

A 13-foot width restriction will be in place during construction. Traffic will be reduced to one lane and controlled by stop signs through the work zone. Motorist can expect up to five-minute delays during the project. Both the width restriction and traffic control are expected to be in place until Friday, June 27, 2025.

This bridge repair is part of a larger asphalt concrete resurfacing project to be completed later this summer.

The primary contractor for this $15.4 million construction project is Border States Paving Inc., of Fargo, ND. The overall project completion date is November 2025.
