MITCHELL, S.D. – Beginning on Monday, April 7, 2025, bridge demolition is scheduled to begin on the 445th Avenue Bridge at Canistota (exit 368) over Interstate 90 in McCook County. This bridge has been closed while the contractor prepared to remove the existing concrete bridge deck. Weather dependent, the bridge deck removal is scheduled to take place nightly from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. for the remainder of April.
For the duration of the bridge project, the 445th Avenue Bridge will remain closed to all traffic. Traffic on I-90 will be routed over the exit ramps to avoid the work area. The I-90 on- and off-ramps at Canistota (exit 368) will remain open, with westbound traffic having access to and from the north, and eastbound traffic having access to and from the south.
The prime contractor on this $6.8 million project is Journey Group Companies of Sioux Falls, SD. The overall project completion date is Nov. 14, 2025.
