The winner of this year’s South Dakota Department of Transportation “Name the Plow” contest got the chance Friday to MEET their plow, Buzz Ice Clear. Both of Jordana Saylor’s sons got the chance to try out Buzz Ice Clear’s air horn.

Listen to the interviews here.

Saylor says the fact her sons are Toy Story movie fans helped in the naming process.

Pierre Region Engineer Jason Humphrey says the Name the Plow program is one of his favorite parts of working for the D-O-T.

Seven plows remain to be named. A plow will keep it’s name until it’s retired when it’s replacement will be named. A plow’s life span is approximately 15 years. Buzz Ice Clear will plow South Dakota Highway 1806, south of Fort Pierre.
