Groundbreaking for $54 million 85th Street interchange - Keloland

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – For the first time in 15 years, Sioux Falls will get a new interstate interchange at 85th Street and Interstate 29. 

On Tuesday, officials with the congressional delegation, state of South Dakota, city of Sioux Falls, city of Tea, Lincoln County, property owners and the Sioux Falls Development Foundation celebrated the official groundbreaking for a planned diverging diamond interchange at 85th Street and I-29. Completion for the project is projected for the end of 2027. 

The $54.5 million project connects 85th Street from Sioux Falls city limits east of I-29 to Tea city limits west of I-29. It will be located between the exits at Highway 106 and Interstate 229. 

The diverging diamond will have a pedestrian and bicycle underpass, and installation of underground utilities, signage, streetlights and traffic signals.
