DRG News: Morris, Inc. employees enjoy seeing youth learn about construction, hope to inspire the generation

While Morris, Inc. employees are going about their work on the Euclid Avenue/Highway 1889 reconstruction project in Pierre, they may be laying the groundwork for the next generation of construction employees.

Morris crews have been working near the St. Joseph’s Catholic School for about two months and Morris Division Manager TJ Gallagher says the students are paying attention.

Gallagher hopes the conversations with students inspire them to consider construction as their future career field.

Another way students are learning about construction, according to Gallagher, is through an art contest for last month’s Work Zone Awareness Week (April 20-24, 2026).

The overall project completion date for the South Dakota Department of Transportation’s Euclid Avenue/Highway 1889 reconstruction project in Pierre is Nov. 20, 2026.
