SDDOT Seeks Public Input for Interstate 29 Variable Speed Limit Corridor Project (Brookings and Moody Counties)

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), in collaboration with the City of Brookings, Brookings County, and Moody County, will hold a public meeting open house from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024. The public meeting will be held at the Brookings City and County Government Center located at 520 3rd St. in Brookings. The purpose of the public meeting is to present the proposed Interstate 29 Variable Speed Limit Corridor project to the public and gather input. The project corridor includes Interstate 29 from exit 114 to exit 133 in Brookings and Moody Counties.

The public meeting open house, which will be held in community room 300, will be informal allowing for one-on-one discussion with the design team. A short presentation will take place at 5:45 p.m. After the presentation, the design team and SDDOT staff will be available with displays to discuss the proposed project and answer questions. Area commuters are encouraged to attend to participate in the discussion.

The opportunity to present written comments will be provided at the public meeting. Written comments on the public meeting will be accepted until Thursday, April 25, 2024.

For those who cannot attend the public meeting or desire additional information on the I-29 Variable Speed Limit Corridor, meeting materials will be posted to the website the day of the public meeting at https://dot.sd.gov/projects-studies/projects/public-meetings#listItemLink_1980. The website also allows for online comments to be submitted to the project team.

Individuals needing assistance, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should contact the SDDOT ADA Coordinator (605-773-3540) two business days prior to the meeting in order to ensure accommodations are available. For any in-person meeting, notice is further given to individuals with disabilities that the meeting is being held in a physically accessible location.
