2022-2023 Snowplow Naming Contest Officially OPEN

During the 2022-2023 winter season, the SDDOT will be officially naming 12 snowplows – one in each of our 12 areas to represent the entire state.

We need your appropriate, creative, witty, punny, and fun ideas for snowplow names! The submission form will be open until Nov. 30, 2022.

SDDOT employees will vote on their favorites and 12 snowplows will be adorned with the name. Photo opportunities with the winners will also be made available, so be sure to provide accurate contact information on the form.

In December, the SDDOT will announce one officially named snowplow within each of the 12 SDDOT areas.

“The contest was designed to engage people across the state with the SDDOT in a creative way,” said Transportation Secretary Joel Jundt. “Safety on our roadways is our number one priority, and snowplow operation and winter driving awareness are vital to keeping people safe.”

As part of the contest, SDDOT also created snowplow and winter driving weather awareness coloring sheets, crossword puzzles, and word finds for families and classrooms. Materials are available for download at https://dot.sd.gov/media/Kids%20Activities%202022.pdf
