SDDOT Seeks Public Input into the I-229 Exit 9 (Benson Road) Interchange Study

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), in collaboration with the Sioux Falls Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the City of Sioux Falls, will hold a public open house from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27 at the Sioux Falls Water Reclamation Facility, 4500 North Sycamore Avenue. 

This meeting is being held to inform area residents of the recommendation of the interchange study and begin receiving public input on the design phase for the I-229 Exit 9 (Benson Road - Sioux Falls) Interchange. 

The open house will be informal allowing for one on one discussion with the study team. Attendees will learn about the study’s recommendations, the environmental process and have the opportunity to record any concerns on the recommendations for the corridor along Benson Road between Lewis Avenue and Hall Avenue, including the Exit 9 Interchange at I-229. A short presentation will be given at approximately 5:35 pm. Area residents, business owners, and daily commuters are encouraged to attend and participate in the public meeting. 

The opportunity to present written comments will be provided. Written comments will be accepted until March 13, 2020. For those than cannot attend in person, the meeting will be livestreamed for your convenience and participation at www.facebook.com/CitySiouxFalls

For those who cannot attend the open house, participate in the livestream, or would like additional information on the overall study, information is available online at www.bensonroadproject.com. The presentations and displays shown at the open house will be available online within a few days after the open house meeting. The website also allows for online comments to be submitted. The study team would appreciate hearing from the area commuters, concerned citizens, and adjacent landowners and business owners throughout the study period.
