Project Complete

Project Summary:

This project consists of Portland Cement Concrete Paving (PCCP) Restoration, Grinding, Asphalt Concrete (AC) Median Ditch Repair and Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) Upgrades. With the PCCP restoration, this entails concrete panel replacement where the existing concrete panels have cracked and has elevational differences which has created bumps on the driving surface and replacing panels that have heaved which has also created bumps on the driving surface. The grinding consists of creating a Next Generation Concrete Surface (NGCS) grinding on new and existing concrete pavement through grinding and grooving techniques to provide a quiet surface meeting the specified ride smoothness requirements. The asphalt concrete median ditch repair consists of the removal of the deteriorated asphalt median and a portion of the existing base course. The removed base course was replaced with shot rock and an underdrain system. The upgrades for the WIM include replacing of the bending plate,  inductive loops and electronics.

The benefits of this project will give travelers a smoother ride and an improved drainage system for the asphalt median.
