LEAD, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says work on Highway 85 at Lead by Homestake Mine’s Open Cut Overlook Area will begin on Wednesday, July 8.

The contractor will be repairing the surface of three hundred feet of Highway 85 at this location.

Work is expected to be completed by Friday, July 24, depending on weather.

Motorists are asked to be aware of flaggers to guide traffic, an eleven-foot width restriction, suddenly slowing and merging traffic, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lane.

The work zone will have a speed of 25 mph when temporary traffic control is in place and workers are present.

The prime contractor for this Black Hills Region wide $1.9 million project is Complete Concrete, Inc. of Rapid City.
