RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says new pavement marking paint will be applied to Highway 231 (Sturgis Road) near Piedmont beginning Tuesday, May 19.

The 11.5-mile pavement marking project on Sturgis Road will take place from the intersection with West Chicago Street to the intersection with Elk Creek Road and take about seven days to complete.

Motorists can expect a mobile operation lane closure to guide traffic during daytime hours with some minor delays.

The prime contractor on this $144,000 project is Dakota Barricade, LLC from Rapid City.
