MITCHELL, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says the contractor will be closing the westbound lanes of I-90, four miles west of Humboldt, to traffic for four days beginning Tuesday, Jan. 7, through Friday, Jan. 10.

The closure is needed as the contractor continues to make repairs on the westbound bridge over the Vermillion River. The closure will be during daylight hours only and detour will be provided from Humboldt to Montrose on Highway 38.

Motorists are advised to pay attention to signing and be prepared for additional closures in this area during the month of January.

Crews are making temporary repairs on scour damage caused during the September flood event that closed this area of westbound I-90 in mid-September and has been reduced to one lane over the structure since that time.

The project is expected to be completed by Jan. 31, 2020, depending on weather.
