Lawrence County - Interstate 90 Guardrail Elimination

Project Summary:

This project will eliminate cable guardrail at two locations along Interstate 90 near Whitewood, South Dakota.
  • Eastbound MRM 23
  • Westbound MRM 27

The benefits of the project include the removal of the cable guardrail and flattening the adjacent slopes to improve safety.

Project Traffic Control

This project will be performed under single lane closures at each location.


Project Updates:

Completed Work: 

As of October 20th, the Contractor had completed fill area and permanent seeding with minor items left to complete. Scheduled to completed at MRM 23 by October 28th.


Project Timeline: 

This project is currently scheduled for April 6, 2022 Bid Letting.

Construction is anticipated to begin in May of 2022 and be completed by October 28, 2022. There will be a rally restriction and all lanes will be open to traffic between July 30 and August 14, 2022.
