Hanson County - S.D. Highway 42 Over the James River
Project Complete
Project Summary:
The SD 42 bridge over the James River is being replaced due to age and condition. The new structure will be over 200’ longer than the old structure to allow for a larger waterway opening for flood flows. The new structure will also be 6’ wider than the old structure, which will provide a 6’ shoulder on the outside of each 12’ lane. The roadway leading up to the structure at both ends of the bridge will be re-graded and paved with asphalt.
Project Timeline:
The Contractor has reached substantial completion on S.D. Highway 42 James River Bridge project east of Ethan. The roadway is now open to all traffic as of July 19, 2022.
