S.D. Highway 15 - From Clear Lake South to S.D. Highway 28



Project Summary:

This project consists of grading and widening to improve road smoothness and sight distance to increase safety.

There will be an interim surface of gravel and asphalt throughout the winter of 2024-2025 with a paving project to follow in 2025.

April 15, 2024 – May 15, 2024, Completed Work: Asphalt milling generating RAP was completed at the end of AprilThe contractor is actively grading from 190th Street to 192nd StreetThe contractor will continue to reclaim asphalt down to the S.D. Highway 28 junctionAsphalt and granular material salvage has been completed.  Grading and pipe placement work is underway. 

Anticipated work May 15, 2024 – June 15, 2024The contractor will continue grading and pipe placement work through the end of May and begin placement salvage granular materials between 190th Street and 192nd StreetReclaiming and salvaging asphalt and granular material from 192nd to Highway 28 junction will continue as salvage granular material placement occurs from 190th Street to 192nd StreetThe next section to be graded will be between 192nd Street and Highway 28 junction and is anticipated to begin in June.

April 4, 2024 - Press Release
On Monday, April 15, 2024, grading work is scheduled to begin on S.D. Highway 15 from Clear Lake to S.D. Highway 28. As grading begins, the highway will be closed to through traffic. The project includes grading, structure work, and interim surfacing.

The project will reconstruct 12 miles on Highway 15. The anticipated project schedule is to grade in sections. Weather dependent, the south half of the project will be graded from mid-April to late July. The north half of the project will be graded from July to mid-November.
